Sleeve hitch Modification--can I do this.

3283 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  SonnyT
Here is a pic of my setup. The hitch is controlled by the same lever that controls the grass cutting deck.

I want to separate the two by adding a lever on the rear to control the hitch only. I can probably figure it out but you ideas and opinions will be appreciated and probably make it simpler.
There aare times when I don't want to remove the deck in order to use the sleeve hitch.

they made some like that- it had a plate that bolted to the back of the tractor, and had a lift arm with a link that goes to the hitch.

go here and type in PN 486.24535

that will give you a manual for what it looks like.

Thanks, it looks like I can convert what I have by using your diagram. I would have to put in three sets of holes in #7 where it attaches to #8 so that I control the lift height and also change the force I would have to apply to the handle based on the weight (Implement, boom or whatever) I had on the sleeve.
Thanks again, Marvin

Here is a picture of the one I made, have since converted it to a electric actuator, but the manual one worked fine. Also check the forum link when I was building it, several guys posted some good ideas in the Thread, especially about the lever!

Thanks SonnyT. That helps a lot. QUESTION-----does the bend in the lift rod (rebar) allow it to cantilever over the fulcrum point and stay in the raised position? Kinda like chain binders do.

Yes, that is what kept it from falling back down. trial and error on the angle. Only took a couple of tries to get it right. :fing32:
