I have a Simplicity 828 Snowbuster. It has an 8hp Tecumseh. It will only run with the choke on.

Will taking the carb off and cleaning it help at all?

I ran 93 octane with Seafoam thru it and it didnt help much at all. Still will only run at 1/2-3/4 choke.

I would like to have this run with choke off, full power--so it can throw some snow!

Of course it could help and may be the problem. Are there any needle adjustments on the carb?? If yes,,, Have you tried opening the main jet ?,,the one at the bottom.

If there are no a ways to adjust it,,,,then the carb is dirty and not allowing the gas it needs.

Best thing to do is to get a carb kit for it. Gives all the gaskets you will need. Many times when you take one apart,,the gaskets can not be re-used. But not all the time.

Write the numbers down that are on the engine cover, and take them to your local power equipment dealer, who can then order you a carb rebuild kit.
Can also go to NAPA, but youd have to bring the old seals and screws along with you to choose which kit it is.
Thats what I do to get a kit.
