$800 seems a bit high with no attachments or upgrades. I wouldn't call the Electric PTO an Upgrade myself.

especially since the paint is not original. (or very well done)

I would not go too far over $500 but I would try to get it for FOUR.

May be the sister of that uber-rare, blood-red 16hp 1973 224 tht strangely looked like a 1978 or 1979.

I know that if I keep grooming my Schnauzer that eventually she will turn from black to silver.

Perhaps this old tractor has been worked over so hard that it turned silver and is ready to retire...

I agree, you can tell a lot about how someone treats something by the way it looks. Not always, but in most cases. If you can't get it for under $500, I would pass it up.

I might go $250.00 for it because the only way to save that tractor at this point is to strip it to the frame, remove all of that disgusting paint and return this tractor to its former glory. Anyone that does something like that to a Case should pay the price for his stupidity by being forced to sell it for peanuts. Even the ammeter is missing so that tells you something about the level of care and maintenance this late 70's tractor has seen. I have a photo file called "The Wall of Shame" and I just entered those photos into that file.

Who ever painted that just went nuts with the spray gun or rattle can. Hose everything behind the dash. That is a lot of work to fix that mess.

If it runs and cuts well, he may get $400 or slightly more if he comes across someone looking for a heavy duty tractor but aren't concerned with cosmetics. Not everyone with good taste has the same intentions for their equipment as those on this site.

It also has two missmatched front tires but curiously he left the rears white, he must have run out of paint.

If this carnage was done recently it may cleanup easily with a rag and some mineral spirits, but like Castoff said the entire tractor would have to be dismantled and you may as well do an entire restore at that point.

I noticed the hubs on the rear wheels are still red. What does that tell you? A real lazy guy with little taste. Still, if the price were right and I lived close by, I might consider it. Especially if it runs decently. But you would have to do a complete tear-down to make it right. Make a nice winter project and look at the fun you will have with the before and after photos when it is finished.
