Yea. Probably should have some sort of breakaway, too. If the mower deck hooks on an obstruction, something will break, probably the joint back at the receiver socket. I'd also vote for a mechanism that allows some upward float in the deck, like a short chain length in the top link. Otherwise, it's a neat design.

I think a lawn boy could be the donor deck and engine.....otherwise I would have concern on the Oil level.

I have the same concern.I was looking into building one of these.I think that the head should point straight ahead or even opposite of the slope. This would keep the oil lower than the piston and prevent oil lock.My grandma did that to an old Wizard push mower and it blew the crankshaft out one side and the rod out the other.

thats a pretty neat idea. i change a few things though
-2 stroke not 4
-wheels or casters on the deck
-some linkage set up to adjust the deck angle from the seat
-something to absorb bumps, like a chain between the lift arm and deck.
-also needs a quick way to shut it down, like a ground wire to kill the spark.

That needs a linear actuator to adjust the angle of the cutting head.
