Sickle Bar mower on a 748

I saw a sickle bar mower for sale yesterday. It was originally made for an 8N Ford, and has a 6ft bar. The hitch has been modified to fit a standard 3-point. The owner says it weighs about 200 pounds, so no problem with my 748 picking it up, but do you think it would work well (or at all) on my tractor?

It works perfectly, all the teeth and guides are in good shape, no play in the shafts. He had it hooked up to a 2210 Ford, he said it has 24 hp./18pto hp, same as my JD., and operates it fine. Parts are still "findable" for it, also. What was the PTO hp on a Ford 8N?

Wants $500 for it, I think I could get it for a bit less.

KH,

That's a lot of weight multiplied by hanging 6' out. You might be able to get it to work, but I think you're asking for trouble. :)
Kinda what I had in the back of my mind, too.
