hey all...

i just found this on kijiji sorta close to where i live (not)

i was wondering if anyone could identify this tiller and what do you think about putting it on my husqvarna 2754GLS?

it looks to be in good shape except for the faded black paint. i just spoke to the the seller a few minutes ago and he will get a few more pics for me. it is quite a ride to get to his place time wise but these things are hard to find in the shape this one is in. all the others i have seen are very rusted and all bent up, so this one looks like i can adapt it to my tractor and the thing i like about this tiller is it is shaft driven and the belt it has does not go all the way to the tiller sloping all around.

he's asking 250$ do you think this is a good price or should i try and talk him down a bit?

thanks in advance

Buying a tiller that was designed to work with an unknown brand of tractor comes with all sorts of problems.

If this unit was designed to work with a sleeve hitch, then is there a sleeve hitch available for your Husqvarna? If so, then that solves the mounting issue.

However, that gearbox needs to be belt driven. So..... is there a spare sheave pulley under your engine that can be used to connect a belt between it and the gearbox? And how do you know if that pulley is the correct diameter to spin this tiller at the optimum speed? And how will you start/stop the tiller from spinning? Most GT's have a PTO of some kind that is controlled with either a mechanical or electric clutch. How about yours?

As for price, $250.00 seems to be very fair if the tines, tine shafts etc are all in good shape. I'm not saying that it can't be done but I don't think it will be easy. If Husq makes a tiller for this tractor you have, you might want to get a parts book for both the tractor and the tiller to see what you're up against prior to opening your wallet.

spoke to the seller again today and he tells me it is a ford product. he was running it on and old lawnboy tractor.

if you look close you see a shaft hanging down in front of the wagon and that slips into the bigger shaft with the pully.

i would have to figure out a way of lifting it off the ground. there is a sort of 3pt thingy that you see sitting on the ground beside the pully that attaches to the frame of the tractor and the triangle part with the 2 holes in it on both side slides onto the 3pt thing, on the wagon it is just turned to the side. i couldn't figure it out untill he told me.

the only thing i am worried about is the pully that mounts under the tractor. the way my husqy's tranny is i do not think the shaft will pass under it correctly.

i think it will be a pass on this, its too far to go look and find out it can not fit my tractor.
i guess i will wait a bit longer for something that is much closer to me.

It is a Gilson rototiller that has been cobbled up to put on another brand tractor. The Gilson had a front mounted "mule drive" that was belt driven from the front of a single cylinder B&S horizontal shaft engine. The front mounted "mule" had a 4-5 ft long shaft that mated to the shaft on the tiller.

The tiller does not mount on a sleeve hitch, it mounts directly to the frame of the tractor and the tiller rotates into/out of ground around the gearbox. The tiller is raised or lowered with hydraulic or armstrong device.
