Today I took both front wheels off, disassembled and cleaned everything. A previous owner had been monkeying around in there because there were two off brand bearings and and off brand bearing cup along with what looks like a home-made rubber seal. Also, on the two outer bearings someone had drove an oil seal into the wheel. I'm not sure what they were thinking because when you tighten down the nut it presses on the rubber part of the seal. Anyway, I ordered 4 new bearings and a new race but I can't figure out how the inner oil seal is supposed to work. I have attached a picture showing what was on there but it doesn't seem right - it's very loose and doesn't seem like it would hold in any grease and keep out any dirt. I tried to look up the part but I can't seem to find anything. Also does anyone have a link to the correct size dust cap? Thanks for any help.

The oil seals are 1.000 x 1.785 x .486 - National #203005 for a rubber seal.

GRAVELY originally used felt seals, same size, National #205005

The dust cap is GRAVELY #0349600, JACK'S shows it as a good number, likely in stock. I do not have any kind of crossover for that.

Is the inner seal the same style you would find on a rear wheel drive car? Should it be pressed into the wheel? What was on there looks more like a soft rubber donut.

Are not all cars rear wheel drive :)

Seriously yes, it is your typical wheel bearing seal, a metal ring that presses into the hub (rim in this case) and a rubber or felt seal that fits the spindle shaft.

In case you did not get it, I'm not a fan of front wheel drive. Now all wheel drive, that's a different story.

Any good auto parts store should be able to crossover those National numbers. They are common seals.

Not sure if you found this out yet, but there is a “sticky” thread for manuals. That’s where I found all of the manuals I’ve needed.

Ok great, so the rubber donut that in there is the completely wrong part. I'll go ahead and order the correct seals and I should have everything I need to put it all back together. Thanks everyone for the great information!

Thanks. I have found the manuals and parts lists. What I couldn't figure out was if I already had the correct seal or not - the diagrams don't have enough detail and I couldn't find a picture of the seal online.
