Hello all,

I have searched quite a bit and have not come up with an answer, but it appears I may need to contact my local dealer.

I acquired my LA120 with the purchase of my home a few years ago with around 80 hours. I used it last season without any issues. At the beginning of this season, I noticed the service indicators started flashing: one for the oil and one for the deck, if I remember the manual correctly.

Anyway, at the beginning of the season, I changed the oil, removed and cleaned the deck, installed a new deck belt, and greased it up. According to the manual, the service indicator is supposed flash for approximately 2 hours.

I have since mowed the grass 15+ times (about an hour each time), and the indicators are still flashing. I seem to remember the hour meter working working at the same time, except for the past 8 or 9 hours in which the hour meter reads 188.8 and flashes along with the services indicators (Basically, every portion of the LCD is lighting up). So, the hour meter is not working nor is the service indicator resetting.

Is this a faulty Hobbs switch? Or is this something that I can fix and am just missing something in the manual?

I have disconnected the battery and disconnected the LCD to no avail.

Thanks!

the indicators are part of the LCD screen aren't they? check for a loose/bad connection to the meter, if none then i would say the only fix is to replace the hour meter since it seems to be bad. The meter on these just counts up whenever 12vdc is applied, the service indicators come on at preset intervals and turn off after a couple horus of counting up, so i don't see how anything else would cause a fault.

if you want to test the meter, unplug it and pull it out. connect it up to a 12v battery that is fully charged and see if it acts right. make sure to get the right polarity or you will blow it out!

OK, now you got me wondering. I have a LA120 and have never seen my service reminder go off. What exactly does it do?

Here if info from the manual if it helps:
• The hour meter (A) shows the number of hours the engine has run. The service reminder will indicate that a general lubrication (B) or mower/engine (C) service interval has been reached. When service is required, the service reminder will flash for one hour. Follow the service timetable on the maintenance schedule located under the seat. For specific service procedures, see the Service section of this manual.

• Turn the key to STOP position when not using the machine.

• Hour meter cannot be reset.

The little SERVICE bar at the bottom of the display will blink at you. IIRC it will do it for an hour before until an hour after the intended service time.
