Well heres a funny story. I don't know how many have followed up on Sears new hot shot tractor. But I was reading an article today about the Detroit Auto Show debuting its first lawn tractor?? I thought it was a gimmick at first. But suprizingly Sears and Roebuck Revealed their new tractor at the detroit show!! I guess Sears wanted to show the public how great the new machine is, What better than the detroit auto show! This tractor is sweet! It has a 30hp B&S Professional v-twin with electronic fuel management, Automatic traction control, Tilt steering, Power steering, Power deck lift, Sliding adjustable seat, And even a cup holder! Check out the review:http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/31/detroit-auto-show-debuting-its-first-lawn-tractor/. Anybody else read about this?

It is a very nice looking tractor. I just can't afford one :crybaby: Maybe one day

Yeah for sure! If I had a choice I'd rather dump 6K on a bunch of sears suburbans and attachments! The newer GT's are nice, But I like my Suburbans 10 times better! - Brad
No matter how much they hype it it will still be disposable, modern Sears garbage. It will sell because of Sears financing availability but it will not be designed for longevity, by the time it is paid for it will be worn out. And with the service Sears is infamous for it won't have good repair available.

Yeah I agree Alan. Unfortunately manufacturers focus mainly on fancy buttons and whistles and add-ons to attract buyers. I do have to say that sears is better than others. My grampa bought a Craftsman LT2000 new in '01, And it has over a 1000hrs on it! No joke! He has beat the **** out of it during the past two years. Me and him mow the family business lawns. I would take any brand over a stupid peice of junk MTD though.

I'll wait for the second version to come out. I won't dish out $6500 until the tractor comes with the iPod jack.
Old news dude lol
High horsepower and neoprene-lined cup holders to wow the neighbors in the Suburbia ZTR wars. It's certainly cool looking, but I'd bet the old 12hp Suburban is still more capable.

Yeah $6500 is alot for a garden tractor. Ipod jack??:ROFLOL. I don't even have an ipod, I wish it had an 8 track player! I've got tons of 8 tracks! Or a cd player. LOL. - Brad

Yeah I didn't even look to see when It dubuted. And I thought the topic was kinda cool. I mean an event that specificaly shows high-end vehicles and reviews, And all of a sudden they reveal a lawn mower. You don't see that every day.

Oh yeah most definitely, The old suburbans are plenty capable if not more. As far as attachment capability, The suburban wins hands down. - Brad

Sears has to be flashy to compete in todays market. At 3K maybe, but not for 6.5K. Just needs a remote starter! :)
That Simplicity sure looks funny painted black.Wonder if the Craftsman model has the same Simplicty deck?
I have to disagree with some of you... this one is slightly better disposable crap. It is based on a Simplicity Prestige not the MTD's and such of the past and the lower end models. It may last a little longer :D Sears would do well to get a better service/customer support center though.
It all depends on how the owner maintains it. I would think this tractor could withstand more abuse than others, But If you don't grease the fittings and change the oil its not going to last. But atleast this tractor is better than a worthless peice of junk MTD. Actually anything is better than MTD! - Brad

I think 6K is way too much money to mow grass plus they made the frame with thinner steel. Since Briggs and Stratton has a stock ticker symbol (BGG) I would think they could be selling them a lot cheaper but it looks like you are putting your money into an bunch of executives pockets instead of getting a good deal. I am not seeing much value at all in a 6K riding mower. A mower that goes mooooo and produces milk is sounding pretty good. LOL!

Any word on when they will have a compact twin repower out with an affordable price tag that will work in an old Sears tractor?

I haven't heard anything really. Nobody makes opposed twins anymore unfortunately. And none of the v twins made today are any where near compact, They have so much plastic crap on them that makes them bulky. I've been looking at an 18hp diesel V-twin made by punsun. I guess its a good motor according to rewiews. They make it in 18hp & 22hp. The price is not to far off compared to equivalent hp gas engines by briggs and koher. - Brad

my nine year old craftsman LT1000 bottom of the line box store cheapy laughs at your disposable crap statement, it just got done plowing 600 ft of 5" wet snow. :trink40:

*the LT means LAWN tractor.

like others have said, its likey ALOT better then the some other brands that have built tractors for sears. and Don't be to hard on MTD. from a business perspective they are clearly on top of their game. they had to make a huge change in their product line and outlook throughout the late 70's to 80's where alot of other companys met bankruptcy and got bought out. i dont think many people realize just how long MTD has been around for. the MTD in my sig would put alot of other so called "garden tractors" to shame.

as far as the sears badged simplicity topic goes...:beatdeadh
