This reminds me of the time my older brother bought a small crane for a pickup truck from Harbour Freight, many years ago before they had any stores in MA...it worked well for a few months, then the bottle jack started leaking from its piston seals..

He called them and complained, and the lady on the phone said she'd send him a new set of seals (repair kit) at no charge..weeks went by,and NO parts!..my brother calls them again, and explains the situation..the person was not the same one he'd spoken toothe first time..she looks up his order, and sees the parts were on "back order",with no specific date as to when they'll get any..

So she says "I'll just have the warehouse "rob" the jack off another new one,and sent it to you at no charge, for the inconvenience..

A week later,a UPS truck backs up to his garage, and the guy pulls out a large box..it says "Harbour Frieght" on it..my brother opens it,and inside is a brand new crane!.....he calls them up and asks for the lady he talked too last, and she said "oh,those idiots in the warehouse, they are ALWAYS screwing things up!--just KEEP it and I wont say anything about it,OK"?...he agreed, and thought COOL--I got TWO cranes now,one for FREE!...

About 4 days later, another small package was left on his doorstop--it was from Harbour Freight!..inside was the brand new bottle jack for the FIRST crane!......

Harbour Freight's tools might be "iffy",but their warranty is excellent!..:D

Yea, I love that.

Me and Dad bought one of there 80$ parts washers, Got home, and one of the legs didn't fit, it was a little screwed up, or something, Don't remember.

Called the manufacturer, as per the instructions. They have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptsy.

Went back to Harbor Freight, We bought it that morning, and walked up to the lady at the counter, same one form earlyer. Told her, and she said, well We'll refund your money, After, she put it asside, dad asks her, "what are you going to do with it?" she tells him, it's going to be sold "as is" for 20 bucks, He tells her sold. And we handed her a $10 bill. She asked, but I thought you didn't want it. Dad's answer was, Yea, I don't want a broken one, for 80, but for 10, we can make it work.. :D

Just love it. Some people's children these days.

Thanks

When I had trouble with my 07 Sears tractor the technician ordered parts to fix it. Long story short, Sears ended up replacing the tractor, then about two weeks later all these parts start showing up even though I told them the tractor had been replaced. Sears actually paid for a technician to come back to my house and collect the parts. Funny, but the belts they sent weren't with the parts that got sent back.:hide:

Nope!...my brother didn't bother calling them back to complain about them either, fearing someone would realize their mistake.....

Sometimes incompetence works in your favor!..

A similar incident happened to e at Autozone not long ago--

I go in looking for new glow plugs for my 6.2 diesel --I had bought some about 3 years ago,to have as spares--when I went to use them, one wasn't an AC Delco one,it was a "Wells" brand,it was the same as far as fit, etc, but I didn't want to mix different makes ,as I had an Autolite one FAIL when I put one in when I was in a bind ,from a parts engine I had-half of it broke off and went for a ride in the cylinder!..(engine still ticks now till it warms up good, dont know just howmuch damage it did)--I have read if you dont keep all 8 glow plugs "matched",one may get hotter than the rest due to different resistances, and I think thats what happened--

Anyway,I ask the guy for 3 new glow plugs, and after he gets them,I ask if I could swap the "Wells" one for an AC--he says "probably, but I dont have that authority--I'll have to refer you to the manager..we talk a few minutes while I'm waiting for the manager to finish with another customer--then the guy waiting on me says "Oh,gee, its 7 o clock--I'm outta here,my shift is over!"....

I wait several minutes while the manager continues to BS with his "customer",who in fact I think was just a friend hanging around..finally he looks my way,and says "Is anyone helping you"??--I said "there WAS,but he left--he asked you to speak with me,remember?"--
"Oh Yeah"!--I'm sorry, whats the problem"??--I explained I wanted to swap one brand of glow plug for another...He says "Sure!--no problem at all--here you go--and he hands me one..the other 3 new ones I had yet to pay for, were still sitting on the counter next to them...

I pull out my wallet,and he says "Oh,no charge--your all set!--have a nice night!...so I gather up the 4 glow plugs,and wish him a good night too,and off I went!...:D

I think he thought I had paid the other counter guy for them.....

I know--I'm a theif!...but after all the times I got the WRONG parts there or ones that were JUNK,and had to drive back there,I felt it was payback...:D

Yeah thats a judgement call... I have been in that situation a few times, and usually do the right thing, but.... I have been screwed so many times I just figure once in a while it's God's sweet justice on "stooopid" people
