Sears Ohio steel 24366 steel utility deck

I've wanted one sense they first came out. I missed out on them the second time.
I told myself if I ever ran across one I'd buy it.
Strange enough I had some time to kill today before an appointment, so I go in my home town Sears, and see a box on the clearance section.
Sure enough it was a steel utility deck.
It wasnt cheap at $ 65. , but I had to have it.

The good news It's all there.
Following the instructions I tried to install it today.
I tried to put it on my 1998 Craftsman Lt, but it sits at an angle like mentioned on an earlier thread.

The bad news is when you pull it up it hits the tires.

Some pics.

Looks like you can haul a bunch of stuff around on it.
I bought it to carry my small generator on. It should work fine for that.

The problem is I need to drill 2 holes so it mounts right and clears the tires.
Absolute zero clearance to put the nut on the backside.
So its either pull the rear, which isn't happening or pull the wheels, seat, shift knob, fender deck and gas tank.
Pretty well sucks.

It's not going to work without a complete redesign.
I tested it using the GT holes which gave more room and it still hit the tires.
In the pics I used every bit of adjustment in the plate.
So even drilling new holes in the tractor won't help.

I love mine, its very useful.

Built a box that sits inside it, also very useful.

Even use it for a weight balast

That's a nice setup. I like the idea of using it for ballast.
I hope to get some time to figure mine out this weekend.
Im not a big fan on what angle this sits at.
I think the original Load @ go was a better design.

The double post above is the edit feature not working.

Now on too more important things.
I'm pretty much going to have to reverse engineer this to make it work.

I took the center plate and mounted it to the tractor first. I got it in the position I wanted it and tightened it down.
Next I added the side plates.
Next I added the tractor brackets. I put them on upside down. One hole lined up,but the other one will need to be drilled.

I mounted them to the top holes that hold on the hitch plate.
Next I put the support arms on in the stock holes.
These will be modified later or remade to fit.
Finally I attached the tray to see how far I was off.
That's as far as I got today.

I've got some ideas on the mods I need to do, but if anyone has any thoughts please post them.

I used mine a lot when I had my DGT6000, but I was annoyed that I had to drill some new holes and make some modifications to fit at the same time as the sleeve hitch. It was handy, but I liked to weight it down and wasnt crazy about the low ground clearance. In retrospect, I think the better solution would be to put in a receiver and a regular ATV Cargo carrier for 2" receivers. Glad to hear it worked out though

I agree I think that would be a much better setup.
Who knows I might still go that route.
