search for a PTO clutch for my LS55

Fellers, still searching for a PTO clutch for my New Holland LS55. Yesterday I thought to do an ebay search for "Toro clutch" and found a bunch of PTO clutches, some that look like they could be the one. But I emailed a couple of the sellers and they say they have no way to know if what they are selling is what I need. They say to get the number off the clutch on my machine. Problem is, I need a clutch as my machine is missing it so no numbers to read. I don't even know if I need single or two pulleys and the deck is also missing so I am not sure if what is on the deck would determine how many pulleys are needed. So any of you guys have a machine like mine and could tell me what I am looking for? Or even better, anyone know where one is for sale?

I have a double pulley on mine. Since the engine in the toro 268 & 270 are the same as the LS55, I would say it's a safe bet to buy it
I wonder if there is some cross reference list between the Toro and New Holland parts?

I just go on partstree.com and look for the part #'s when I call them into the Toro dealer (much cheaper in most cases than the N.H. dealer)
Guys, my hunt for a clutch is a big 0. I see Toro clutches on ebay and other places but I am never sure if they are the correct one and neither are the sellers, so no deal. I also called partstree and they said they didn't know. Neither do the people at Toro (called them). And as I have no picture of the clutch nor one to look at, have no idea what I am looking to buy. So can anyone tell me for sure what model Toro PTO clutch would work on my LS55? Anyone have the manufacturer number (Warner) or the Toro number?

Thanks, Doug
So I finally bought a clutch, but who knows if I got what I needed? I was looking on fleabay days ago and looked under Toro 270 (or could have been 269) and found a clutch for sale and I asked the seller if he thought it would fit. He said it would and I bought it for $80. Haven't had a chance to do anything with it but do know that the last time I looked under my LS55 that I didn't see a place to plug in the clutch. And if the clutch works, then I need to find a deck to buy.

So any idea how to know if I got the correct clutch? And any maintenance I should do to the clutch before installing it? Any idea on how to find a deck?

Doug
Here is link to the new holland parts listing. NH parts tend to be expensive, but this gives you the link. I did not know your year. so you might have to refine the search. But then cross reference and check with Toro.

How can I tell what year it is?
How can I tell what year it is?

Look at the MFG ID sticker. It should have lots of valuable information. Like year made and serial number. The serial number most likely will be a series by year.

If these are missing and the engine is an original..........then grab the model number on the engine. That will give you the year of the engine, which has a high probability of being the same year or a year before the tractor was made.

The year is a very important for all references like parts searching. I am not familiar with these series at all. So cannot really do much besides some guidance. Hope it helps.
