Hi lads,

I am looking at possibly changing the rear wheels on my HT.

I see wheels for sale which have 280 / 70 R16 agri tyres.

After speaking to the seller it seems the rims will fit but the overall diameter of the tyres is about 30". Which will JUST clear the metalwork.

Is this size too big for the tractor to put it`s torque down on the ground.

If these are OK I might then put 20.5 x 8.50 -10 tyres on the front which are good for about 1700lbs per axle. I reckon that they will just clear the frame at the front bearing in mind the bigger diameter.

Am I wasting my time with all these changes or does it look like a good upgrade.

I don't know if I'd want 30" tires on a large frame. The 'tallest' tires Bolens supplied were 27". Going larger would give you a bit higher speed, but with the loss of 'power on the ground'.

Here's a page from the HT20 parts manual that shows the 'factory options' for wheels/tires.

It`s Ok, panic over!!

The wheels look to be going for too much ( ebay ) for my budget. Also the cost of delivery was going to be expensive because of the stupid way the UK is broken up by the courier companies.

You can put stuff from North Scotland to Englandshire but not the other way about!!!!!!!!!!

It seemed like a possible cheap way to get better tyres for my tractor. The original terra tyres are well worn but still have grip.

Oh well, never mind.

I am sure I have seen, or read about, someones` tractor on here which had bigger tyres. Or maybe that was only the front ones.

Thanks for the input by all concerned.

By the way. Still no snow!!!!
