Hey guys, last year I purchased a Simplicity ZT3500 48" mower. This is a mid-level commercial/residential "special edition" build that Simplicity did from 2011-2014. My understanding is there weren't too many built, nor were there many of it's sister, the ZT4000 which is slightly heavier-duty. Anywho, the ZT4000 rides on virtually the same chassis and uses the same deck. It also comes with a ROPS bar. The ZT3500 does not.

A couple years ago, I managed to roll over in a little Snapper ZTR and it was an enlightening experience to say the least, and the destruction of that is what led me to buy this new Simplicity. Anyway, in light of that, I want a ROPS bar on my ZT3500, something I think it should have come with in the first place. I've inquired with Simplicity to see if the ZT4000 bar will bolt up (which I'm sure it will but doubt they will suggest I try that). I have not yet heard back.

Basically I'm wondering if anyone has any solutions for mounting a roll over bar to a ZTR that never came with one but which probably has provisions for it. Are there "generic" ROPS bars available? I understand that this is a VERY touchy area legally and blah blah - I'm not looking for a guarantee that it's going to save my life. I just want something there in the name of safety. Any help would be appreciated.

I would think the Z4000 that has the same frame platform, that the Z5300 can use the ROPS. If you can locate the Simplicity parts section on both tractors and if the frame on both has the same part number, than your bet is about 99% it will bolt right up using the same bolt holes as the Z4000.

The chances are slim that a "off the wall" ROPS that you may find, probably won't make the grade.

My JD Z710A and the JD Z912B are the same, with the exception the engine HP and the size of the rear tires. Most parts on both will work on either tractor.
