I found this garden tractor at the local scrap yard, the man said he would take 20 cents a pound. It has a 20 hp Onan that is not stuck. The mule gear is gone and there is no deck, but everything else looks good. Would anyone have a clue how much it will weigh? I'm figuring maybe 500 lbs?

My only onan engine is my p220g on my deere 420, it has served me well. The engine alone is worth that if it turns and is in nice enough shape.

Roper built that tractor for Sears, they were rugged and very popular. For that price I wouldn't think twice. The Onan is a great engine until you have to buy parts, be prepared to mortgage the kids.

Can't argue the price. Even if the engine is toast, as someone mentioned Onan parts are hard to come by.

Roper's Sears machines were tanks. No reason to believe their own name isn't the same or better. They were heavy duty when that still meant something.

Great find, congratulations!!
