I know this is touchy subject but....when I take delivery of my x740 I plan on disabling the RIO switch which I have done on my previous JD's. I understand why they're there and I am fully aware of the safety issue-which for me there is none. My son is old enough that he doesn't hang around me while I'm using my machine. Also, I think it's much harder on the clutch and attachment to keep restarting them if you forget to engage the RIO switch.

Anyway, I wondering if I disable the RIO switch on the x740 if that will disable the back up lights as well? If it does, is there an easy way to keep the back-ups working even the RIO is disabled?

As always, thanks for the responses!

What type of switch is on it? The husky I had I simply turned the key to a different position and could run it all day like that. But my x540 you simply lift up the pto engagement handle and back up/release the handle and you can back up for miles that way. Unless you hit the forward petal again! Not that inconvenient if you ask me! Better than the older ones that you could not mow in reverse period!

We are NOT allowed to discuss how to disable the RIO switch. But I will say this, yes if you disable the RIO then your backup lights will not come on automatically when you go into reverse, they will, however, still work fine off the dash switch. If you need any more info, PM me.

Personally.... I didn't know the answer to your question if the lights would come one or not.

I left the thread open long enough for that question to be answered. Any further discussion on this topic would be in violation of house rules... hence the thread is now locked.
