Hi, I own several of these tillers (montgomery wards) 1580-E 1545-D front tine tillers. They are good tillers but parts are hard to obtain or non-existent! The former writer was asking about felt seals in the axles that the tines are on. First thing, you must use 140 Weight Gear Lub! Not 80-90 W or lower. It will leak. Next thing, you can make your own seals by cutting out thick felt padding under carpet or etc. I cut mine out and used a screwdriver to push it back into the ring. There is an inner and outer seals. Then I used a thin flat washer over them! But remember to use 140W gear oil! If you have a source for parts, please notify me. Tines especially. I broke two and cannot find replacements! Thus taking parts from one tiller that was a working tiller. [email protected]
