I'm feeling pretty dumb asking this, but here it goes.

I had a small leak in the bottom of the lifting cylinder for the 3-point hitch on my Case 646. It turns out that the 3" nipple there was cracked. I managed to get it off, but now trying to re-install the two hydraulic everything just gets twisted. I can't seem to tighten the hose fitting without really twisting and kinking up the hose. I must be missing something.

One of the old pieces would have had a swivel to get it apart . Verify that the new parts have the same swivel to alow it to together without twisting . If it is the solid pipe thread type conection you will need to undo the other end at the valve body . Make your connection at the cylinder and then reinstall at the valve body . When you are asking questions like this pic.s help so we can identify your parts .
