The metal shaft attaching the choke knob to the choke cable broke on my lawn tractor when my wife was setting the choke for starting. I can still use the tractor by removing the air filter cover temporarily for access to the choke plate and manually positioning it but that is only a short term workaround.

Looking for some input before I get real serious about this repair. The backside of the dash is not exactly easy to get to, obstructed by the gas tank. When I was working on changing the PTO idler pulleys I found the gas tank can be unbolted and slid upwards but seem to recall that it did not seem to be easily removed completely.

Anyone have any tips on how to attack this repair?
