Still debating on getting that 89 520hc of a buddy. Can you still buy the mowing decks for these tractors or is used all that's available? How bout other parts?.... I heard the hydro's sometimes go out.

Probably used is all you will find although a new one pops up sometimes. Parts are readily available on ebay. I have a 520 that has a thousand hours on and the hydro hasn't caused any problems.

I haven't gone on Toro parts in a while, but that would be the place to see if you can still buy one new. They will be really pricey. There are lots of decks on C-list and ebay usually. I rebuilt my 520H, frame off restoration, hydro is working great. Just had to put in new fluid, filter and seals to make it work right. Still finding a little misting around some of the fittings near the fan so I think I may need to tighten or seal with a Permatex sealer.
I just ripped out two skyrocket junipers I got tired of looking at this weekend. Just dug them up and cut some large roots, and yanked them out. Its a great tractor.

My local dealer said about $1600 for a 48" a couple years ago. There is a guy in Warrenton VA area that has a bunch for sale in noce condition and pretty reasonable prices. They're listed on CL under DC farm and garden I believe.
Last new one I've seen was just short of $1400 for a new 48 from a dealer in Latham NY
Still a lot of good used decks out there also.
Ok thanks guys. Decisions are hard. One member said the hydros had issues when I posted earlier and another said the deck wasn't original and that it may be a small concern on the retrofit is why I asked.
It is a 60" deck. Another Member says it looks like a c195 deck and not a 520 deck. I agree it looks a lil different that the other ones I see in pics. Just trying to judge repairs and possible investment.
Those original 60" decks were welded together and weigh about 325 lbs. I have seen several for sale and they are usually in $750 range. Believe me when I say they will probably still be in use in another 20 years. They are that good.
even if its a C195 or whatever deck vs the original 520 deck?
Look, one of the best parts about dealing with WH tractors is that with a few exceptions, any deck or attachment, will fit any other tractor. From 1971 on, when they went to the quick hitch, to 2007 when the last GT315-8 rolled off of the line, any attachment would fit any tractor, from the Raiders, Chargers & Broncos to the B,C,3**,4**,and 5**, Ds were a little different, but most decks will all fit and work well.

Yep,, no need to be a purest if it hooks up,runs and does the job you need done then let'er roll,,,, many folks dont use big decks because they just dont have flat enough ground to use em without scalping, others have width limitations due to landscaping or gates and such,,,, bigger isnt always better with mower decks.

ok thanks. Well it was mentioned that it may be sort of a "hack job" or "frankentractor" getting that deck to work. I just wanna make sure before i make a bad decision. Sorry for the stupid questions and thanks for the patience. Old tractors are a new thing for me, my last mower was a new off the floor craftsman light duty lawn mower.
