I have decided to do a quick repaint/ restore on my 1969 SS12. Its my main pulling tractor, and fair is coming in in less than a month. I want to make it purty lol. I have decided on the rustoleum hammered verde green and some kinda white. Probably rustoleum appliance white. Its ford blue right now.
Here's what I've done so far.

Interesting. I like restoration threads. Keep the progress pics coming.
How is the engine running?
Very nice. Keep the pics coming. I just repainted mine and its a chore but worth it in the end.
Nice i painted mine with royal blue aka ford blue. Looks great when done. I believe the original color is like a aqua blue but that is hard color to find.
I got the engine pulled today. Also the front wheels and tires, electrical system, and fenders. Its coming along.
The verde green is close to the original color (I call it teal)
How much longer till you post more pics??????
Ill go take some now

I didn't use the hammer to remove the hub, it was just laying there in the pic. The hub slide off easly

Ahhhhh! Thanks! Those restoration progress pics hit the spot!
Next is a stop at advanced auto for the tools to remove the steering wheel.

GL with that, hope it goes better than mine did. 44 years without being off makes them buggers.

Back in the 70's Pontiac had a metallic engine blue that was very close in color. The color on my 70 GTO engine almost match my grandfathers suburban. Not sure if you can find the paint for that anymore.

Did some quick research, the metallic Pontiac engine blue from 66-70 was close. RGB values- 74,174,146 with metallic in the paint it shows as engine in the below picture.

did you buy that in williamstown west virginia
Thanks grem304. Im going to stick with the rustoleum

Butch, No, I bought it in Hedgesville WV (eastern panhandle)
I have the same Kobalt tool set. The stupid wrenches never stay in place! I see you removed the transaxle without the drawbar plate. Did you drop it out the bottom? I've tried removing them different ways, none work great. Always looking for a better way.

I love my tool set, It easier for me to put tools back in it vs the regular tool box that I have. (ps my stupid wrenches don't say in place either lol).

I dropped it out the bottom. I thought that was the easier way. Turns out there is no such thing.

Yea, all the sockets stay in place when you carry it too. I usually leave the drawbar and tires on and roll it out the back. That works OK.

I soaked mine with the acetone/steering fluid concoction (great stuff), and used a bearing separator beneath the wheel to attach a wheel puller. Finally got it off, to find that I had cut a notch in my separator with the shaft key. I cleaned and oiled it before putting it back together. Also, I left off that flimsy retaining ring, drilled and tapped a hole in the end of the shaft, and secured the wheel with a bolt and a flat washer (3/8-16, IIRC).

I cant find a bearing separator local, anywhere. Guess ill have to buy one off the net

Will this work? http://www.harborfreight.com/bearing-separator-and-puller-set-93980.html
