How does this @%$&#( thing come off?

There appears to be something attached inside that I can't get to. Is there a trick?

I dont think anything is holding it in, the bottom of the pump has rollers on it I believe.....

I got it off. There was a rod inside that needed removed first. It is accessed through the side behind the fuel shut-off solenoid bracket
