Remove cutting deck for blade sharpening

Hi.
Last year I bought an MTD Yardman HE4160 lawn tractor which hasn’t charged the battery ever since I’ve had it (I have to charge the battery with a stand-alone charger before I start and that has finally killed my battery!). What is the probable main cause for this?
Also, I want to clean it all down and get the blades sharpened…how do I remove the cutting deck to get the blades off? (The only manual I’ve managed to find on the net for this mower is an instruction manual for general use and safety information. Nothing showing how to remove the cutting deck etc. etc.).

Welcome to the forum DJ.
Should not have to remove the deck to get the blades off. Lift or jack the tractor up and remove the center bolts holding the blades on.
I could not find a manual for your machine online but that may be because it is a European model.
Any lawn mower battery with the physical dimensions to fit should do for your machine.
