So I’m finally getting around to installing the model 40 loader I purchased this summer for my 445. When I went to order the THRV part# AM12148 I found out that it is no longer offered by Deere & has to be purchased as part of a kit for $466. I was pretty upset at myself since the seller I purchased the 40 from said it included the valve but when I opened the box I found his original stock THRV & not the one I needed.

Doing a search I found an online dealer who showed stock on 1 AM12148 so I ordered it. I was surprised when I received the valve, opened it & saw that it was used, very used, see pic enclosed, it’s the one on the left. When I called the dealer they apologized & offered to refund my money. On the call I asked if they could locate one for me & they found one at another dealer but I had to deal with them separately. I contacted the other dealer, asked them to verify that they had the part which he did so I paid & asked that they ship it. When it arrived I found this too was used! Now I have two new/used valves that I am paying full price for with no other solution but to return them. It’s pretty upsetting that Deere supposedly has no recourse other than to sell a kit at almost triple the price so I can’t blame the dealers but I’m at a loss at this point on how to proceed.

Do I pick the least used looking one of the two & use that or do I try to find another one from a JD dealer elsewhere? Obviously these are getting as rare as hens teeth so I don’t exactly have a warm & fuzzy feeling moving forward. Is there any way to test that the used ones are working? Besides damaging the transaxle how will I know?

I got mine (AM121248) through greenpartstore for $157 just a couple of weeks ago. No indication of short supply :dunno:

Not to disparage all JD dealers but I just went through a tough time with one of my long-time online suppliers. They sent me the wrong stuff over and over again. They were nice about it but when you are trying to sell something and you have to wait two more weeks it is frustrating. They were going through a redo of their catalog and trying to tie it in with the JD parts catalog. It was a disaster. They were telling me things didn't exist and then telling me that I needed this part when I didn't. They even had a page misnamed in the catalog for a JD 54-inch deck that was in reality for the JD 60-inch deck. Everything I ordered was wrong! Why can't you call the seller and ask him where the valve is?

Yep I ordered mine from them shortly after reading your thread & they called me to let me know that it had been superceded to the kit number. I verified on JD parts for myself once they contacted me.

I lost his contact info, it was advertised on Craigslist months ago & he had sold the tractor (with the correct valve installed I assume) a year prior. So I am 100% SOL.
