I have my K341 out of my Ford LGT in our machine shop at work. It needs a piston, rod , gaskets etc.....The prices for Kohler or even Stens parts are ridiculous up here in Canada. We are debating trying one of those rebuild kits offered on eBay. With shipping, exchange, customs etc, its still going to be about $250 Cdn, but thats just about what they want for a rod up here.

Engine Rebuild Master Kit w Valves for Kohler K341 16HP M16 w 16HP Rod not 12hp | eBay

Engine Rebuild Kit for Kohler 16HP K341 and M16 with An Actual 16HP Rod not 12hp | eBay

Has anyone try these kits and what was your luck with them?

Just my respectful opinion, but, if I invest
the $$$ for machine work,
the effort to clean the engine up
the time to do the project
Hmmmmmm :dunno:

There is a LOT invested here, more than just the cost of parts.
I do not want this project to come out bad because of saving money on parts.

I guess I just hate to fail,,,, :sidelaugh

NOW, what I have done is simply search for great running factory original engine equipped machines.

I sold the ones that needed rebuild, and replaced with low hour good runners.

Actually, other than one machine I REALLY wanted, I ended up money ahead getting the better machines.

It takes hunting, there is no button to push that says "Buy Now",,, but it was WAY less work, IMHO,,,

I havent used those kits, but I have rebuilt several of them with aftermarket parts from Pats small engines PSEP.biz and had excellent results. I wondered if it was a good idea, until I read Brian Miller's articles on the subject. Use them with pride lol.

Poncho, you said you 'ordered the kit', but you did not specify who you were ordering from. Could you enlighten the rest of the readers of your source, and the observed quality of the included parts?
I am not looking to rebuild anything right now, knock on formica, but may in the future.
thanks
tom
