Hello everyone, I'm a recently retired old timer with a Simplicity 3410, at least that is what I think it is, and I'm looking to fix it up some for a hobby. I've used for several years to grade my driveway but last fall it began to start hard. Found out the compression is really low so I'm thinking about some type of repower. Anyone got good ideas?

Thanks much
Tony

I would try to find a good used engine or rebuild the one you have. Repowering it can get expensive and complicated if you get a brand new engine. It is possible but it depends on how much work you want to do to make it fit and work properly. You may also be able to put a Kolher K series engine there from one of the newer models that are similar.

Thanks Farmerall that sounds like good advice, I wondered if other model that might be more available would fit and if engine parts for what I have are still available.

Thanks for the help, I'll start looking for a 16 hp. I'm looking at another tractor that looks like my 3410 but it has a hydro and a kolher engine. I'm hoping to trade a little labor for it.

You are right on that, this buying things for money isn't all it's cracked up to be. This guy owns a farm and needs help. I have time and no money so that could work for both of us.
Anyone got a good 16hp engine they want to part with for not a lot of cash?
