Hey all,

A neighbor brought me her Honda mower. Runs with a lot of smoke, then dies. Crankcase is filled with gas & oil, carb is soaked with gas, and she swears there was a half-tank of gas when she put it away but there was a puddle under the mower. I say the float/needle is bad.

I did some quick snooping and it seems I can just get a whole new carb for $20. Is this the route I want to go?

Who is our favorite parts vendor these days? I like to support our own whenever I can.

I would just replace it. I get mine from Amazon.

20$ + the ride?. You have to drain and fill the oil. Instead, add a B+S shut-off ,maybe 6$, add some gas. Remove the bowl. Open the the shut-off. Does the gas stop when you push up on the bowl? If yes, than put bowl on. Fixed. Instruct your neighbor about shut-off. I stop the mowers by using the shut-off when I'm done mowing. Way less carb trouble come spring. :D
