Hey dere;

I replaced the OEM Simplicity snowblower belt (1/2" X 66",front PTO, 3416 H) with a Kevlar belt and now seems to make more noise now when running the blower as compared to the stock OEM belt. Anyone else notice this noise being louder? I know that belts can make noise and this one seems to be of a harder material.
Any ideas are appreciated!

I've always heard that its best to use the OEM belts for the snowblowers. Many of the "off the shelf" replacement belts have a different cross section and are not designed to run with twists or on backside idlers the same as the OEM belts.

When I was using my Conquest and a single stage snowblower, the aftermarket belts I'd get from the Simplicity dealership that were about $20 less than the OEM belts would barely make it a half season of snow blowing. The OEM belts seemed much more robust and had a much longer life span.

So, I quit buying the aftermarket/cheaper belts and stuck to the OEM Simplicity belts. While the OEM belts were more expensive, it was more cost effective in the long run by not having to buy two belts a season.

Somethings to help with belt life is. If the tractor is sitting a while release the belt tension so it does not stretch the belt out. Once the belt is stretched, it starts to slip. Wearing it out faster.

Heard about the new material that's twice the strength of Kevlar? Real spider silk made from goats' milk that have been gene-spliced with spiders. They've been using it in bullet-proof vest for almost two years, and are going to expand to all industries. Should make great belts too. I know you'll think I'm crazy, but you can Google it yourselves. They invented this at the University of Wyoming.

Hey dere;

Well this is the second day of snowblowing with my 3416 H using that Kevlar belt. She is pulling good and brings that 16 HP Briggs down when you get on it all the way. So far so good!
