question on a 1257

My son recently got a 1257. :fing20: another project......

Is there a way to disengage the hydrostat so it can be pushed?

There should be a knob below the left side if the drivers position that engages/disengages the parking lock/hydro.

OK, we can't read what the decal says, but my boy did figure out that it operated the parking brake.

We will check futher into that.

That is the only way you can push a 1257. They can only be pushed slowly, otherwise you will damage the hydrostat. There is no other disconnect for it. Look at the medium frame service manual to see how it is assembled.

:ditto: Yeah, you have to push it slow, otherwise you will ruin the transmission
