It has a B&S 18Hp Twin II engine and hydro trans. When under load at full throttle it tries to die. If I don't throttle back quickly it will die. Is it carb related?
Hard to say for sure but it sounds like it. Most running issues are carb related. Another maintenance tip is to pull the cylinder heads off and clean the carbon build up. Doing that can sometimes make a old sluggish engine run like new.
Problem solved-drained carb and cleaned main jet.
New problem-ran it for less than 5 minutes, parked it in shop. Later went to start it and engine was seized. Poured about 12 oz diesel/atf in both cylinders. One side ****** it all out, other side just a little. Next day got it unseized but did not try to start without knowing why it seized.
Any suggestions?
one small engine tech suggested oil pump. Is there any way to check it without tearing into it?
