John Deere 2002 Diesel Gator 6x4 18 HPO Yanmar

New Primary & Secondary AF, new fuel filter, oil filter and 5W30 Synthetic.
In the process of doing my gator's initial service as new owner, replacing a lift pump, a starter drawing 60+ amps before it broke, I found the PO had bypassed the Radiator B3 Fan temp switch and my fan runs 100%.

For now, its fine. While troubleshooting after the above replaced, replaced my glow plug module and since the starter K1 was cheap, it too.

So my fan runs all the time. It was a Florida Gator, so it may as well run all the time, and this summer its fine in VA, but want to look into this before winter.

So, a seat -of - the pants question for other Gator owners: how often does your fan switch "on" for cooling?

FYI - other than the radiator temp switch, I have replaced worn and missing item, and its OEM. And while the VA temps are 90+ this is no issue. Looking ahead to winter...

De'je-veaus the holegram in the Movie " I - ROBOT "

Guess I didn't ask the right question...

The previous owner on mine bypassed the thermo switch and replaced it with a toggle switch. I've had it for several years now and it hasn't really been a problem. I leave the fan off till the motor gets warm. I have forgotten to switch the motor on and overheated it a couple of times. I hope to fix this someday. I hope a new thermo switch is all it needs. But for now, it works so I don't mess with it.

MOD - Radiator Fan

Other than having headlamps on, and the mod'd fan runs, its no issue. Did this during my daughters bon-fires, (without engine running) and after 30 minutes, even with fan running it cranked right up. However, did notice I racked up hours on the hourmeter to shine headlamps.

I dropped this one way down on my priority list, as I have a truck clutch to change, a tractor remote hydraulic kit to install; complete filter & fluids change on my backhoe, pole barns still needs metal on side. One of these days I may get to it...
:thanku:
