Like most other 2305 owners I love my tractor. Although this is my first year with it I'm getting so much work done and literally transforming my yard. Often it surprises me with its power.

However, it seems all too often I'm reading about transmission fan issues. Most seem to be caused by foreign objects, although Lakedweller's recent post about a non-functioning fan sounds like it was a part malfunction.

Knowing the many 2305s out there I'd like to get a quick post from owners regarding the year and hours on their 2305 and list of repairs that needed to be done, if at all. Especially of interest is the fan issue and if it was a case of striking a foreign object or part failure.

I'd like to get a ratio between 2305 models out there without tranny fan problems and those with issues. And as suggested any 2210 owners also identify themselves and any repair issues.

Mine is a 2010 with 40 hours. No problems other than my rock shaft control knob fell off. Dealer came to home and repaired. Very minor.

Thanks,

Steve

2006 2305 w/182 hours. Battery died at 49 months.

Transmission hydro leak since 50 hours 3 years ago. Drips on floor only after 2-3 or more hours of mowing on hot summer days. Dealer couldn't find leak. I put a drip pan on garage floor and I live with it. Seems to have gotten better over time.

Seatbelt mountings rubbing on seat bottom sides. Covered seatbelt retainers with scraps of old bedliner.

Front axle was low on gear oil. Not touching dipstick. Noticed at 3 year mark. Checked it was full at 50 hour service. Added enough to bring up to "Full" mark. No signs of a leak. Was full up until then. Still full now. Mystery...

2 front tires and left rear tire (all turfs) developed slow leaks. Cured with Slime.

Still enjoy working this machine. May trade it in on the new 1026. Depends on attachment compatibility, enhancements over 2305, and cost....

Curly, how did the fan end up going? Foreign object or part failure?
I would bet a foreign object, went well and I'm taking it easy till I get a skid plate. This thing can do to much for it's size and I forget that sometimes. But I convinced myself I could replace it now in under an hour. :thThumbsU

My '08 has just under 400 hours.

Besides the tranny fan mount failure (http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=153866), I've replaced the battery after three winters, I've had punctures in all four (unloaded) turfs, and put tubes in all of them, and had one chute bracket on the snowblower break.

I work the tractor hard, but I maintain it well. It's washed regularly, lubed 'way more frequently than the manual suggests, and kept in the third bay of my garage, with the seasonal implements at hand. I couldn't survive without my 2305:D

my 07 has 740hrs on it. Replaced battery after 1 yr. pro rated warranty. and replaced trans fan twice. Fans broke due to sticks getting caught. I would love to get a skid plate but you can not use with mmm, so the way I'm always changing implements i think it would be a hassle. other than that runs strong and would not be without it.

2007 245 hours.........

The seat belt metal things were eating my seat till I covered them with fuel line. Almost put a hole through the seat. MMM height adjustment is a very #@^$%#& design and to this day I fight with it.

All and all this tractor has gone above and beyond for me. Can't really say to many things bad about it. It's got my back every time I need it. :greendr:

2004 2210 with 440 hrs. Other than 2 valve stem failures (not fun with loaded tires) the only issue I had was a leaky rockshaft cover which was fixed with some rtv sealant and an adjustment of the linkage.

Awesome tractor. Maintain it by the book and use it as intended. It's hard to imagine a better machine for my needs. :thThumbsU
