New here.
Just bought pretty decent little tractor for restoration project. Yellow is not original at all. I think (!) it is a 1967 Garden Mark with 7hp B&S engine. Horizontal shaft. Distributed by Montgomery Ward. Can someone confirm this please? Or correct it? I have a hard time finding anything about it.

Adding another picture. This is how it used to look like before it got old and someone emptied a can of yellow on it. Pretty sure that is what I got.
Who made it?

Good morning... I have seen a lot of makes/models of gilson/wards but that is not one of them. Does your engine have a year identifier on it? that may help in the search... Good luck!

I am pretty sure it is a MTD made tractor. 1967, 7hp Garden Mark.

I located a M. Wards Garden Mark Squire, Simplicity did make an early version. Hope this heads you in the right direction.

I know this is an old post, but I had to reply, I have a similar tractor, made by Gilson, mine still has the tag, model no. 778. This was also sold as a Wards Garden Mark 7, but I've seen some Wards tractors that were MTD's, and also some Simplicity's. Mine's a bit of an odd duck, but I found a manual for a similar one online. Mine was the cheapest version they sold, 7hp Briggs, recoil only start. I believe mine is wearing its original paint, red and white, which are the correct Gilson colors, but it does have a Montgomery Wards steering wheel. My grill is slightly different and a year off of yours,

a '68. This pict is how it came home with me, since then I have removed all of the p.o's added brackets and the office-chair seat. I did not get a deck or any other attachments so this one will become a tug, maybe get grader blade eventually.

Thanks! I agree! So much so that I'm installing a repro pan-type tractor seat in place of the office chair. You can't tell from the pict but the front "grill" is actually a heavy cast piece-pretty cool. The engine is missing the shroud and the carb, but I found them on fleabay and they're on there way, I hope to have it moving under its own power soon. Behind it, barely visible in the pict is a Bolens with a tiller, I got that in the deal too. Its engine is toast, but that'll be next.

Welcome....I think your Gilson is a bit more tractor than that one above....12in wheels on back etc.

IH Cubs had a frame like that made of iron too...I had a wheel horse on which that piece probably weighed over 200 pounds..as in...they don't make them like that anymore
