I picked these up for free the other day ... how did I do? The motor is locked up on the Massey, it ran 10 years ago when parked. If I can get it running I will build a loader for the front. The tiller was mounted on the MF but after looking at the numbers it is a wheelhorse 7-1260 50inch.

Also picked up a Simplicity landlord and a cub 682 but both were missing the motors. The last picture is of some winter projects that I have picked up in the last few months.

On the Onan...may be stuck due to dislodged carbon jammimng the pistons agasinst the heads. I got a BF 16hp Onan free and was stuck. Easily got it free, but would only turn so far, then stop. Pulled the heads & got the carbon piles out. After that she fired up just fine. In fact, it's the engine I put on my 1655. She smokes some, but I'll live with that for now.

I think you did great! That 1655 is well worth fixing. In my opinion they where the toughest garden tractors made lacking only power steering to make them a great tractor. I put power steering on my 1855(same tractor except 18hp) because it's used mainly for FEL work.

I've been looking at the ways you guys have mounted the power steering cylinder. I think I will build a FEL. I got the motor broke loose but I have a exaust valve still open, so I filled the cylinders back up with acatone and tranny fluid. I'll leave it sit for a day and see if it has worked loose. Might have to pull the head but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'm missing the fuel pump for the onan ....

I would fix her then build that FEL you want. The 1655 looks good compared to many I have bought. Some time & patience can change it to a beauty, or use as-is. Not sure on the 1655 being mine came without engine, but if it has a DD carb, then it should have a carb mounted fuel pump? Well, getting ahead anyway, first free the engine & all, then on to fuel.

The fuel pump on my 1855 is mounted on the engine shroud with a hose going to the crankcase(pulse type pump). When the pump diaphram went out it filled the crankcase with gas, new pump and oil change, everything was back to normal.

Man, your yard is as bad as mine, my wife of 3 weeks is beginning to wonder about me. I picked up a Bolens QT17hp Kohler twin with front and mid PTOs, for 50 bucks, then got a big MW/simplicity 18 horse 46" cut, Case 110, and great old sears tiller, all for free, and they all run. The Bolen's needed a coil, found one off an old Harley that worked fine, both 5 ohm 2 cylinders. I sure wasn't going to give the mower shop a 124 bucks for a **** coil. Mike

Oologahan ,if you keep getting tractors at this rate you'll need to move to a bigger place! You are getting some really nice finds. Are you planning on restoring any of them?

Yeah, I just looked at the plate and saw the serial/model number started with "GIL", so I figured it was probably some of the last GT's Gilson made, Thanks for the confirmation. I may restore the Bolens QT17 and add a 3 point hitch, love to remove the mower deck, use the mid mount shaft to power an auxillary hydraulic pump and build a loader for it. I know people say my hydro can supply the power for a loader, just thought I'd rather have it for a 3 point and maybe a backhoe (wish, wish). Th Monkey Wards is running, it's going on CL for 250, same for the Case 110. When I get the case up to running speed and mowing I'll probably sell it also. I've got a 80's model TroyBilt GTX320 in near perfect shape a guy is holding for my for 750. I'ts got a 20hp Onan with front and rear hydraulics and mid mount PTO, I REALLY want it for a loader project. I'm sure it will more than compete with the 1655's just doesn't look as cool.
