Cracked open the tranny from a RER that I've been messing with for almost a year.

Replaced a bunch of parts, but I suspect my problem with slipping in low gears is attributed to the shift keys. So they'll be on order soon.

Thought I'd throw up a few pics for your viewing pleasure, also a close-up of the transaxle brake for those not familiar with it.

Sweet! I have been in many Dana 5-spds, but I have never seen one like that. That is cool to look at the gears and figure out the geartrain path...

The tranny, or the brake?

For the brake - when you depress the pedal, it disengages the drive belt, and at the same time applies pressure to "wedges" that push those pads against the disk on the shaft. It can be adjusted pretty easily also.
