I replied to a cl list that was a few weeks old on Tuesday titled case mower 45" 150.00.

Well this morning I was able to go visit the guy selling it about 45 minutes away from home. It is a 85 a bit faded from being left out, professionally rebuilt the engine in 06 which according to the owner was supposed add 2 to 3 horse to the kohler.

The sides of the deck must have had some rot, he has added some 2x4's to the sides to keep the clippings from blowing out the sides. He rebuilt the ez clutch 2 years ago. Seems to work just fine. All it really needs is a new choke cable. Also getting a sweeper with it (non case). He offered to deliver it for a extra $50.00. I did not bother to haggle on the price or delivery.

I will be getting it next weekend, at that time I will post pictures. Seeing that we had to put the deck drive belt on, I believe I was the only person to look at it. The post did not mention tractor just mower. I think I got lucky.

Now I will have 1 tractor for mowing and 1 for blowing. Was hoping to fnd a 224 or a 44x. as a second tractor, but I am ok with 2 220's.

Planning on fluid changes etc and will look at rebuilding the clutch for my 87 220.

That's how its done, nice snag

I guess this will counteract all the "should I buy, not sure if it's a good deal" posts, followed by a "it sold while I was posting this" post.

Here is a picture my case woody. I will be posting about some issues with keeping the rpms up and backfiring when turning the ignition off.

There is no fuel filter either, that is a concern. My 87 has a fuel filter this is a 85. I did expect a filter.

The amp meter fluctuates quite a bit until the tractor warms up.

Nice looking tractor and I believe that might just be a newer version of an antiblowout kit from shoddy Industries:fing32: slkpk

Those are light weight anti scalping shoes. Very rare around here:fing32:

Nice looking tractor for that price or any other.

You guys have got this all wrong. What this is - is upon purchasing a brand new 220 the PO was giddy with excitement especially at the thought of its first trial run and just couldn't wait to get it out of the crate. :D

I believe there is a collector that has some of these - Castoff may know him, but I don't think he actually runs and operates them still in the crate as the PO did here. :D:D

Yes boomer. Funny thing I am always in need of new glasses. The older I get the worse I see things.

Guess I did not look to close at it when I first went to look at it.
He was a tinkerer. There are cotter pins holding few things together instead of the clips.

The prefilter is missing on the air filter.
When I get a good chance to describe what is happening with motor and how the carb keeps jumping I will request help. There was a lot of black soot on the hood by the exhaust I cleaned up, Which I believe that Bob Mac on a previous post for a 448 said the carb was running to rich.

Sometimes when looking at tiny things or classified ads the glasses come off to read and I have progressive lenses.

Beware of blind man on tractor LOL

Looks lke a 45 series deck and a super good deal on the package, When you start mowing with it you will quickly realize why the sweeper is there with it.

These do a wonderful job cutting. Just patch up that hole and you are good to go.

Also make sure you flip that deck over and clean out the ducting steel under there. Each chamber has to be really clean to do the best job. They can get clogged up in wetter conditions and make it leave a clumpy mess behind. I keep mine clean and every now and then hose the underside down with some WD40, keeps it cutting slick and clean.

Welcome to the RDMD club.

Another acronym for the group. Rear Discharge Mower Deck. (for those of you watching that thread too...)

Over the winter I plan on removing the lumber, it bite into the turf a lot. I also have to check the blades, the PO did replace them and I think the middle blade is scalping and doing some turf damage. So that will be a winter project. It does cut pretty good when running correctly
