So I got another ford garden tractor for parts for the 2 I already have. Its missing the sheet metal, and I haven't looked for a model anywhere yet. But it looks like an LGT120. Only thing is my 120 which is a 1977 has headlights and this one doesn't. I will try to get pictures later today.

So, it took a little longer then I had planned to get pictures, was busy working on a chainsaw I got with the garden tractor, actually 2 saws:thThumbsU. The guy I got it from said he only used it for tilling until his son-in-law broke the tiller. I am going to use the steering wheel, column, and box on my 1976 LGT145, and the rear PTO also. My 145 will just be used for pushing snow and tilling, if I ever find a tiller that I can make work.

Kewl machine. Looks like you have enough parts to fix it.

It actually runs and drives just fine. Its missing the sheet metal, and has some frame work that has been cobbled together, that's why I am using it for parts. So I will have plenty of extra parts for both of my other fords!

The LGT 120 in the background is all original, paint and all. It runs great but the mower deck had a repair done at some time and is lower on one side then the other. So I need to fix that.

The red one is a massey ferguson that I paid $160 for. It runs and mows great. I had baught it for the engine, but it was an easy fix, so I use it to mow. Its the same as some case or ingersol, maybe 224 or 3014.

Just picked up on your thread and like what i see. One observation though, I believe the steering box and column are different between the '72-'76 and '77-'83. For sure the cross shaft in the Ross box is different. The '76 had a hole drilled thru the cross shaft and used a roll pin to secure it to the steering arm. The '77 had a keyway in the cross shaft and used a pinch type steering arm to attach to it. If you find a way to use the later model please post pics as the earlier style always egged out the roll pin hole, making the steering sloppy and weakening the cross shaft itself. Hence the change in '77.
I just picked up a '74 LGT 120 myself this week. Keep us posted on your progress.

My plan is to use the complete steering from the parts tractor on the 145, so I will use the steering arm also. The one on the 145 is rusted on so bad I cant get it off anyway. As for if it will all work or not, well I will just have to figure that part out, haha!

Thing is, I am trying to rebuild 2 chainsaws that I got with the parts LGT, so it may be a little while before I get back on it. I should have 1 saw done in couple weeks, then I may put the other one off for a while. I have 6 chainsaws, and 4 are runners, soon to be 5! Of coarse, I have 4 garden tractors, and 3 of those are runners.
