Picked this up from a friend for $15. The mowers in pretty good shape body wise, and the deck has just a couple rust holes. The motor is half missing so its no count. I tried to put an older 8HP briggs on it but it hits the steering gear. My question is has anyone re-powered these with something else? Ill try and get some pics to post.

It's best to post the Sears 917.xxxxxx number so anyone else can see WHICH
"LT10" you have.
My (incomplete) list shows them using a Briggs or Tecumseh.

Yours looks like it has the Tecumseh. (The Briggs ones have flatter rear fenders over the back wheels.) I've heard of people having problems trying to get Briggs to fit on them. If you do a re-power, I'd be interested in what you use, since the engine on mine is together, but needs a new connecting rod or crankshaft.
