Well I don't know if this will help anyone out there but here is the method that was used to paint the logo on my 8NAN.

After blasting and primering the hood a few coats of red were applied to the whole area on and around the logo. Next, the whole hood received the grey covering up the red. Very fine wet sanding all over the letters cut back the grey and revealed the red. Then came the clear gloss coat and the job was done. The result below. Do you guys do it this way ?

Hi there Fondue - that bright red Ford script is awesome.
Looks like your method, beats a lot of taping with blue 5/16" vinyl 3M stuff.
