I need the cover or guard (not sure which you call it) that fits over the belts (drive and pto.) on the engine on my Super 12. Never had one for mine. Know approximately what they look like from pictures on e-bay. Are they all the same? There are a couple on there right now but are for later models (1 says its for a 19.9 and another says its for an onan) They looks similar but i can't tell. I have the part on the engine that has the 2 pins sticking out where the cover would go.
Any information appreciated :thanku:

I think some of the super 12's did not have a cover on them. I've never tried to determine if there are any differences between them other than paint. You might try eBay and also try posting a WTB ad in the For sale section of the forum.

There was two styles of pto covers but they all interchange. The later ones from '73 up (I think) had the lip on the back side (curved part) of the cover cut off for some reason and the earlier ones did not. I believe '68 was the first year for the pto cover. My '67 Sub 10 did not.

The cover on my '72 ST12 won't fit on the Onan's.

Sounds like Onans need an Onan specific one, but a Tec can use any.

Hi Diz Jr., watch when looking at them on e bay I've seen many listed that are just the cover and not the mount assy and if your tractor doesn't have the mount/belt guard it will be needed. I just got one for my tractor a couple of weeks ago at first I didn't want to pay the price they sell for but now I very glad I did.

Good point GB, don't forget the base. Shaped like a "C" and contains the pins that the cover slides onto.

the 67 and older ones did not usually have the cover- you can tell because the older ones that did not come with the cover have a bunch of bent metal pieces bolted to the block that can rotate close to the belt to keep it from popping off the pulleys. The newer style ones have the bracket with the two pins for the cover on it. Onan ones will not fit on Tecs and vice versa. The location of the pins is slightly different. Just look for orange ones on ebay- they fit :D

BTW, what belts pop off? PTO for mower, etc? I haven't gotten around to restoring the mower deck for my Sub yet.
