very nice
that should last a long time.

Take off that red cover rough it up with some sand paper a shot of primer and a couple of coats of JD green and you're good to go.Going to have to get the green paint out though and get rid of that non-JD paint scheme on the engine!
Agreed :trink39: I painted my repower engine's cover ASAP.Well glad to see that you're keeping the 318 and repowering it. Going to have to get the green paint out though and get rid of that non-JD paint scheme on the engine!
Yeah, that is a threaded adapter for the driveshaft & it came already fastened as seen to the crank. In fact all of the pictures were taken immediately after I lifted it out of the box & up onto the work bence. The shipping weight was 124 lbs., which included the pto that came with it, & the belt. I am sure that "coldwater" is going to grab hold of that when he reads the weight, but then again maybe he doesn't know what an 18hp Onan weighs? Perhaps it's because of all the titanium parts in a Briggs that make it weigh less than the great amount of slag that is cast into some other engines. In the photo below the truck is that a threaded adapter for the driveshaft? Also, it came with a brand new PTO?
esnm74; I did not see the pictures of your Vanguard twin painted up green, until after I just posted. Yours is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, & that does it, I am definately going to paint mine green before I drop the engine in! I thank you for the pictures, as you have saved me from a lot of furture regrets for not having painted it. Once that engine is in, I do not plan on taking it back out. Thanks again.Excellent. Can't wait to see more. I painted my Vanguard engine cover green, exhaust shield black and the muffler with gray exhaust paint. Looks awesome and it still looks as good as day one - two years later.

Okay- I stand corrected. The green looks EXCELLENT!!!! :thThumbsUWhy paint the red??? The color lets everyone know
"My wagon has a fresh team of horses!"
Personally, I think the red is downright sexy.
