Thought I'd take a picture of My Cousins old Otter (that's what they call it). Has had it for a long time and used to use it in the winter/early spring for sugaring purposes. Has not been running in a long time, not sure why or if it's even works anymore. He runs stuff really hard and usually where ever it stops it stays to die.
Looks cool either way.
Anyone ever seen another? any info would be nice, just to know.

I know nothing about them MU, but I did find a thread on another forum about one with a little information about the manufacturer. What a neat machine! :fing32:

http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=9510

Picked up this unit from the Forest Service they had water tanks mounted on it for wildfire supression. It was missing a wheel/tire and had old gas but other than that it runs and drives fine it was made by a company called Otter
Manufacturing, In Minnesota it has a 20hp Kohler engine and the cutest 3 speed manual transmission I have ever seen. 14" wheels/tires with Spicer differential disc brakes for turning and then it goes on to a final drive. It will lock one track up and turn the other one around it. weighs about 1000 pounds and has 2300 square inches of track area which equals .434 psi.
18" wide tracks. with 1.5" angle irons The simplicity of the machine makes it intresting. thought that some of the members that are trying to build a rig from scratch might like to see.

You're welcome. The pleasure was mine though because I learned something. I love the simplicity of the machine and it looks to be built like a tank, no pun intended. Well, maybe a little. :D

It will never happen. If you could see the punishment his skidder and dozer go through :fing20:!
NH is rough country on any equipement never mind logging and excavating type work. Many rocks and hills. I cannot count how many times I seen and heard of him rolling skidders etc trying to get at wood etc. Rough country!

Need a use? Are you kidding me? Those things are just too cool!!!

Even with just a flat bed, it would be a great mover of "stuff." Don't think I'd take it across my lawn, but looks like it would move a lot of snow with a good plow.
