A while back I had obtained a lawn boy push mower, which I was quite excited about...until I realized it lived outside and the engine was seized from rust. After taking it all apart, I realized it was not worth spending $300 or more fixing an old rusty mower since I already had a working push mower. The wheels and deck were junk, but I am wondering if the engine, which is a duraforce 6.5 hp, is worth short blocking? Has anyone ever found a re-powering use for a duraforce? I know they don't really fit any other walk behind mower deck, but what other things might these 2 strokes be used on? I'm trying to come up with a way to enjoy the 2 stroke smoke in all it's glory, but I can't think of anything it would couple up to. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a guy managed to rig one up on a go cart, but thats the only thing I remember seeing where is was used on other than a lawn boy deck. Surely these engines fit something else...just not sure what.

Looks like those Duraforce shortblocks are readily available on eBay for around $100.00. Unless I had a really nice complete aluminum deck that needed a motor I would be hard pressed to invest $100.00 in the motor. Kind of depends on the area your in but you can get a complete running Duraforce around here for that amount of money. Bill
