Onan B48M Float

I think I may have a bad float on my Onan. Mine has the stock fiber/foam float. The float doesn't look swollen or appear to be sticking to the inside of the carb. However I do think it may be fuel saturated and sinking. If this were the case, what type of symptoms should I expect?

Usually if the float is bad it will sink to the bottom and the fuel pump will overwhelm the needle valve and cause high fuel consumption. Or sometimes the float will swell and stick in place and won't allow any fuel in the bowl. I ended up putting a new brass float in my SS/16 last year because the old foam float split. I hear you can repair the old float with gas tank sealer if it isn't in to bad of shape. - Brad
