I currently working on a pulling tractor and need some help on the wiring. Its an 18hp onan, some of the wiring is done for me. The coil has a small box attached to it (one wire to pos, one wire to neg, red and black.) And the condenser is attached already also. Any help finding a diagram would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Im pretty sure your right about the ignition module. I guess it could be a P series engine and some one bolted a BG MS shroud on it? Another question I now have is why would this engine have the ignition module and ignition points?
Do I just not wire the points in? And last question what does this round coil do, (the last pic.) Thanks for the help.

I hope these pictures work

I bought it off a guy and he said it was from his friends john deere (im thinking 318?) it was partially disassembled like you see. He had gotten some more extra parts together for this engine because he wanted to hot rod it (extra cam, heads, valves, etc.) This engine will be going in my wheel horse pulling tractor im building.

Let me see if I can get some better pictures later.

Thanks

I think it is an engine from either a SS/18 or 18/6 TWIN Sears that someone put the later style intake and carb on. Looks like the engine was originally yellow under the black paint. That is the wrong crank output for a 318 Deere, they used the bigger output. That is the more standard 1-1/8" that was used by Sears and Wheel Horse.

Thanks everyone for the help so far. So if its basically a M series engine with P series intake and carb I should be looking for a M series wiring harness? And your right about the crank its 1-1/8''.

click on the link in my signature that says "free manuals working again" I have manuals for an 18/6 an SS16 and the motor manuals for a b48M and a BF/MS motor

The most useful to you would be for the 18/6
