Wow, expanding in '88 and flat out of business in '90. It's amazing how things can change in two short years.

it's cool that they're making comms in the vid. what are the odds on that? Remember when we actually made stuff in the usa instead of just importing it...

I watched it.
Thought to myself, hum 250 lawn mowers and 1,000 gas tanks. WOW !
Well, not really wow in the large sense.
Gale Products had 2 mower lines.
Front line for push and the back line for self propelleds.
Across the aisle was the gas tank assembly line.
When production rate was made on the front line, there were 1,200 mowers out the back door.
Back line rate was 800 mowers.
Gas tank rate was 5,000 tanks.
Times they were achangin'.

At the end, did that guy say part of the building became the Canadian Canoe Museum?

You heard that correctly. The plant was located in cottage country. There are thousands of lakes in central and northern Ontario. These days lots of folks are restoring the old cedar strip boats and canoes.

It is. You can take the 240 mile Trent-Severn waterway from the Bay of Quinte at the East end of Lake Ontario through cottage country and into Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. Just a little shameless self-promotion.

PS. Lots of money up there too. We were on a boat cruise on Lake Muskoka a couple of years ago when I was thinking how nice it was to fly to the cottage as I was watching a plane land on the lake. After we turned the corner at the island the plane was heading to, there were two more planes parked at the dock! And there was only one cottage on the island.
