oil light

I am a new farmer in Ga. I was a auto repair shop owner for over 50 yrs in Atlanta. I recently bought a mt 3210fd tractor. The oil light is slow to go out after sitting days or weeks. I notice the oil filter is vertical. Is there an oil filter with a check valve to prevent the filter from draining back into the oil pan or some other remedy.
