I use a normal band type wrench. You just have to squeak it in between the filter and the little drain/drip pan. It also helps if your wrench has a swivel head.

That will work, or if you didn't over-torque the old filter installing it, your bare hands should work too.

Mine will always vibrate loose if I only hand tighten it. So I always give it a 1/2 turn or so past hand tight.
when you go get your filter take it to auto zone they have a socket style that works real good.
CarQuest has a wrench that uses a 3/8 in drive handle. The wrench slips up onto the filter about 4" and as you turn it, the wrench squeezes onto the filter. It is removed without puncturing the filter.
If you put the next filter on with a film of new oil on the gasket and hand tighten about 1/2 turn past gasket-engine contact it will come off easily and won't vibrate off. The oil film is to assist removal. If the gasket contacts the engine without oil, it could stick.
I put mine on hand tight, and use a pair of channel-lock pliers to get it loose to take off.

One should always tighten a filter about 3/4 turn or slightly more after the gasket makes contact. This is probably more than one could tighten the filter by hand and is necessary so that vibration cannot unknowingly loosen the filter to the point that the oil leaks out and lets the engine sieze.

Every filter that I've ever seen instructions written on advise to turn the filter 3/4 to 1 turn after the gasket touches the seat.
