These two big V12's were sitting near the rubish transfer station where I goto dump my barrels. Had the camera with me so I puled over and snapped a few pictures. No idea on the manufacturer or application but boy they're pretty darn big. I've seen a Mann Diesel engine pulled out of a locomotive and these are close in size , I think. There's alot of shipyards around these parts so they may be to repower a ship, just my guesses. Figured I post a few pictures for the oil burner lovers......

and hey...... I know where that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's right Paul, I forgot about about your special trip there last summer! From what I understand a Cranberry Grower is useing the place to grow cranberry vines. The tractor dealer that was there moved down the road to Rte 105, the former Chevy dealer, in Middleboro.

You will probably find a thread on this site down the road on someone installing one of those in a tractor.

This picture is of a 7000 some hp Wartsila engine being pulled from a Local Cogentrix Plant. They had three of these running on mostly natural gas and a small % of diesel. They were heating a 10 acre tomato greenhouse with the heat from the engines.

i think they could of heated those greenhouses a bit more efficiently! :sidelaugh

we have a v12 genset at work (not that big but must be a couple thousand hp). when the powerplant has too high of command, they call us up and we crank her up and put some power back on the grid. i forgot how much it can produce.

looking at the ones on the semi, i'm going to guess they are going in a building. i would think the radiators wouldn't be right on the engine if they were for a ship. it looks like the same set up as the genset at work.

The city of Taunton landfill has at least two of those methane run engines generating enough electricity to not only power all the needs of the landfill, but also has enough excess capacity to SELL electricity back to the TMLP (Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant),which pays for a lot of the landfills operating costs and salaries..many landfills here that were capped years ago have methane "flares" burning 24/7,I think its about time they used it to power something instead of just burning it in an open flame..

Bosox--did Morse Bros move to where Chase Chevrolet was??...I heard they lost their John Deere franchise,so did another place in Taunton a few years ago,who was an exclusive J-D dealer for 50+ years...they came and hauled off their entire inventory!..another J-D dealer opened a branch in my town about 2 years ago, besides them, there is only one other one in West Bridgewater...and that place looks like it wont be open much longer, every time I go there the shelves get barer and they aren't restocking anything...

Yes Bob, they moved this past summer to the old Chace Chevy building. They let go of JD of thier own volition as hear it. They took on New Holland and Cub Cadet to go along with the Kubota line. They have sold more than a few NH tractors to the cranberry growers, I've seen a few of them running irrigation pumps.
