What do you guys think about notching the frame on a 1886 as far as strenth. I have an Onan starter with out the solenoid mounted to the starter right now but am thinking of replacing it with a starter with a solenoid. Only problem there isn't room against the frame for the solenoid. I would have to notch the frame about 3/4 " high and the legnth of the solenoid to get it to fit. Does this jepordize the integrity of the frame.

Thanks

If you notch it there maybe you could weld a plate across the remaining bottom section under the notch to add support.
